Accounts Payable Clerk Virginia Lehr has been named the City of Rosemount’s 2017 Employee of the Year for her service to the organization and the community it serves.

“She continues to help everyone – both internally and externally – at a high performance level,” wrote Rosemount Finance Director Jeff May in supporting Lehr’s nomination for the award.

Lehr was one of five City employees nominated by colleagues for the recognition. The City’s management team, led by City Administrator Logan Martin, selected her for the top honor.

As the Finance Department’s Accounts Payable Clerk, Lehr tracks and makes payments for bills sent to the City for its operations. She verifies that requests for payment are backed up by paperwork that confirms the spending was approved by City management and authorized by the budgets set by the City Council.

Lehr’s major projects this year included working on the switch from paper versions of records to more efficient electronic versions. She was also instrumental in coordinating the extensive records required for the City’s use of solar power in an agreement with Xcel Energy.

“The City of Rosemount is fortunate to have a gifted staff, and Ginny is a prime example of that,” said City Administrator Martin. “She is a dedicated employee and is always willing to go above and beyond to get her job done.  Her efforts are sometimes unnoticed due to her humble, quiet persona, so I am so pleased that she is being recognized for her great work.”

Lehr has worked for the City of Rosemount since August 1995.

She is the 15th recipient of the annual award, created by the City to honor employees who provide excellent customer service, achieve savings and efficiency in government, and serve as models of safe work habits. Names of employees of the year are engraved on a plaque displayed in the upper lobby of Rosemount City Hall.
