During World War II, approximately 12,000 acres in southern Rosemount and northern Empire Township were acquired from local farmers and became the site of the Gopher Ordinance Works.  In 1947, the University of Minnesota purchased 7,500 of these acres in Rosemount for $1 from the War Assets Administration.  The Ballfields at UMore are built on 27.5 acres the City of Rosemount acquired from the U of M. in 2011.  There are currently two little league/softball fields and a parking lot.  Future development of this facility will include additional fields and playground area.  Because of the park's proximity to Dakota County Technical College, on of the existing fields serves at the home field for the DCTC softball team

This park is available for adoption through the Adopt A Park Program.
